Large album of 50 original what appear to be albumen photographs of Paris mounted one per stiff heavy panel. No date given but from clothing and transportation shown indicates c. 1888. All photos present and all are titled in French on the board beneath each photo. Album is 14-1/2 x 10-1/2 inches (38 x 27 cm). Photographs are 10-3/4 x 8 inches (27 x 20.5 cm). Photographer not given. No titles appear etched in images themselves. All views indentified (in French) above and beneath images. Most of the photos are VG or better, several are lightly faded. Nice detail. Many street scenes --Rue de Rivoli, L'Avenue de l'Opera, Place de la Republique,etc; gardens; monuments, architecture; landscape; Versailles; Trianon. All edges bright gilt; Binding solid, no pages detached. "Jules Hautecoeur 172 Rue de Rivoli" is printed in gilt on front under a large fancifully printed "Paris". Hautecoeur worked as a publisher in France from 1885-1899. Good, leather spine is frayed on ends and album cover is somewhat worn and soiled. Scarce. (a87566)
