Lecocq, Charles (1832-1918) . ORIGINAL MUSIC MANUSCRIPT OF SOUVENIR DE TIRANON GAVOTTE (SIGNED)
Full score. Undated. Oblong folio (10 x 14 inches) 9pp. A total of 159 bars in length. Notated in black ink on 22 hand-ruled staves per page. Scored for 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, 2 cornets, timbales, triangle and string quartet. With fine full signature to first page of music. Minor corrections throughout. Lecocq was a successful composer of operetta and gained international recognition with works such as La Fille de Madame Angot, Girofle-Girofla and La Petite Mariee. La Fille de Madame Angot has remained a classic among operettas and demonstrates Lecocq's abundant flow of pleasing melodies, his deft exploitation of rhythm for a lively theatrical effect, impressive building up of extended numbers, and typically French shaping of phrases.
