Norris Stanley Barratt, an important Jewish Philadelphia lawyer and Judge, with his bookplate.*** 8 original letters tipped in (all from other Philadephia Jews and all addressed to Barratt) and numerous newspaper clippings (all about Philadelphia Jews) also tipped in. One letter from Mayer Sulzberger (signed) and Sulzberger's bookplate tipped in suggest Sulzberger got the volume at some point from Barratt. The tipped-in material has caused the hinges to split and makes the book look messy. Good, leaves slightly browned, spine ends a bit worn, small closed tear on spine. Binding secure. Valuable resource for history of Jews in Pennsylvania. (a67936)
