collection. COLLECTION OF 117 ORIGINAL ACTUAL WAX POSTAL LETTER SEALS ( early 1800s )
Actual wax seals mounted in stringbound wraps album of 5 leaves. A few have ink notations telling city of origin. One seal dated 1831, rest appear of similar date. Most red wax, a few black and green. Most seals cracked but all pieces present, some are whole and uncracked. Many seals from New York but some from Mobile, Holland, Calcutta, Trinidad, etc. Unique item as far as we know. Belongs in a maritime museum or American shipping history collection. (a1924)
