It begins with a 9 page foreword by Kent explaining how he met Halsey in Sausalito after the big San Francisco Fire. "From the heights of Sausalito (we) looked down upon the island of Alcatraz, with its military prison whose somber walls were silvered in a flood of moonlight. A cry of anguish, imagined or real, seemed to sound across the water. 'What was that?' 'Only some unfortunant Alcatraz prisoner' " which inspired Kent to write these poems.
