Large octavo, blue leather spine and edges with large panel of silver down middle of both front and rear panels, white ink spine lettering. Title page in black with blue and red decoration. Ten pages of text in French followed by 6 very fine doublepage plates, which appear to be ***handcolored of stage designs. Then 61 pages of full color single page plates of costumes and characters. These plates also appear to be handcolored and are on rectos only and each with tissue guard. ***Inscribed briefly by Edna Woolman Chase and signed by Lepape in 1930. Internally book is Near Fine, plates are Fine, bright and stunning. There is the faintest possible amount of foxing on margins of a few pages. Book cover is VG with some light wear, leather on spine is a bit dry and beginning to crack in a few places. Spine lettering beginning to chip away. Impressive book. RARE. (a83476)
