Sleiden, 1506-1556, has been described as one of the greatest historians and a candidate of the father of historiography. Initial pages detaching. Minor staining in text. Moderate cover wear. Dated in text December 20, 1659. Printed on one side only. 12 x 14 inches. Folded once in middle. Top half is explanatory text, lower half is list of the names of about 300 men who support the declaration. A one -inch wide strip along right side of the original is missing and has been very professionally repaired (repair appears to be at least 100 years old). The missing strip takes the final word from most but not all lines and second half of surnames in the final row on the lower half. Top margin slightly cropped so that the top of the A in title is missing top third. Otherwise broadside is good, no foxing and not much wear. Possibly removed from larger binding at some point in time. Text begins: Whereas by a wonderfull Revolution of the Divine Providence, those Members of the long Parliament which were stangely brought (May the 7, 1659) and as strangely outed by them (Octob. the 13, 1659), are now strangely returned to sit in the House as before, ....(etc) (a76185)

One narrow worm hole at top of first few leaves, falling outside the decorative border and hence not affecting text except for three leaves where the title of the leaf is in the top margin outside the border (in which case the worm hole affects a single letter). The leaves are not too worn; there are a few small closed tears on the right margin of the final leaf and one tiny worn hole in the right margin of the last few leaves. Original seventeenth century English broadside, (12x14 inches), dated 1659. A concurrent Declaration of the Inhabitiants of the city...with the Declaration of the People of England for a Free Parliament, whereas by a wonderfull Revolution of the Divine Providence, those Members of the long Parliament which were strangely brought...and as strangely outed by them (Octob 13, 1659) are now strangely returned to fit in the House as before, we judge, etc. About 250 names are printed on the lower half of the broadside. A strip 1-1/4 inches wide has been torn off along the right edge of the broadside and professionally repaired with the attachment of a blank strip in its place. The lost portion just affected edge of document removing a few letters from right column in each line. The top margin has been slightly cropped so that the tip of the initial letter A is removed.
